GM Lobbies for a Piece of the $700 Billion Pie
GM and Chrysler and in talks for a merger to try and stop the downward spiral both companies have been going through this year. But that’s not preventing GM from lobbying in Washington for some of that $700 billion in handouts aid. Wait, wasn’t that money earmarked for financial institutions only?
GM argues that they’re too big to fail, and that if they did thousands would lose their jobs. Perhaps they should have thought of that when they were cranking out crappy gas-guzzlers that no one wanted to buy. And part of their merger plan calls for laying off thousands to reduce overhead anyway.
