Arkansas Bans Adoption by Gay Couples
Arkansas just passed a nice little initiative banning gay couples from adopting children. The language of the new law is tricky, in that it prohibits “unmarried partners from adopting children or serving as foster parents,” and applies “equally” to same-sex and opposite-sex couples. The catch: of course, same-sex couples *can’t* get married in Arkansas.
As a person who was adopted and who has an adopted child himself, I find this new law reprehensible (is there a stronger word than that?). If there’s any justice, there is a special place in hell for all these people voting to strip the rights from others.
